CAROLYN DRAKE REISMAN, MA
Certified Professional Midwife

A Tennessee licensed CPM, Carolyn has been serving women and families with the births of their children for over 20 years. She received her midwifery training in El Paso, Texas at the Maternity Center under the direction of Shari Daniels, a renowned midwife who has assisted with the births of 9000 babies world-wide and who has trained over 500 midwifery students. Carolyn also holds a Master of Arts Degree in History with a focus on the history of women and midwifery.
On the creative side, her work with families and pregnant mothers extends into the world of photography. Her goal for photographing pregnant women, newborns and those early, magical moments in a new families life is to spread awareness and openness about pregnancy, breastfeeding and normal birth.

Carolyn lives in Chattanooga with her husband Keith J. Reisman, an attorney. Between them, they have three grown daughters and two grandsons, both born with Carolyn’s helping hands.
JENNIFER CROOK, MA, MPH
Certified Professional Midwife

Jennifer is a Certified Professional Midwife and has been directly involved with midwifery since 1988. Her interest began in graduate school, where her research focused on woman centered midwifery care.
Her investigation culminated in a graduate thesis that revolved around a cornerstone philosophy: in order for normal, low risk childbirth to regain its original woman-centered status, it must be moved away from the hospital. As part of her thesis research, Jennifer enrolled in a class for aspiring midwives in 1997. She hasn't looked back since. Jennifer trained for three years under the skilled preceptorship of Deren Bader, CPM, DrPH. During those years, Jennifer attended close to 100 births. In 2004, she received the title of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). Jennifer also holds a Master of Arts in Women's Studies and a Masters of Public Health in Maternal & Child Health. Jennifer lives in Birmingham with her three home-born children.

JENNIFER'S PRACTICE

Jennifer works with Birth Wellness and Women's Center by providing prenatal and postpartum care to mothers in the Birmingham area.
RACHEL ROBERTS-BOYD, RN
Senior Midwife Apprentice

Rachel loves helping families. She attended the University of Louisville and graduated with a nursing degree and always hoped she could find a holistic career. There, she met her wonderful husband, William, and they moved to Chattanooga in 2009 for his job. Because of this move Rachel was able to begin studying midwifery in 2011 and will complete her midwifery education in 2013. After (hopefully) passing her NARM exam, she plans to continue working and learning with Carolyn. Someday she plans to move back to Western Kentucky to live close to her family, start a working farm, and fill a house with home birthed babies. In her spare time, she loves to sew, quilt, cook, and garden. If you want to get her on her soapbox, start talking about home birth, real food and nutrient dense eating, scent-free living, and frugal green living. She wrote this bio at 6:00 am one morning while waiting for a sweet new baby.
RANDI HAYNES
Midwife Apprentice

Randi has lived in Chattanooga for nine years and has a beautiful little family. Her helpmate, Jerry, is a firefighter for the City of Chattanooga. Between them, they have three children, Mariah, Lily Grace, and Abigail. She knows how fulfilled babies make our lives and is very grateful to help guide these precious little beings into the world and to care for their mothers throughout the most intimate journey of life. Randi believes mothers begin bonding with their babies from the time they read the little pink line. She is here to encourage this intimate time and educate mothers from pre-conception to the birth of their babies, making the most gracious transition possible.

Randi began her childbirth career as a doula almost five years ago. This opened her soul to her true calling, midwifery. She began her apprenticeship with Carolyn in August of 2012 and plans to continue her education with her for the next three years; although, she is trying to convince Carolyn to keep her around forever! Randi will be building her own practice in Chattanooga in the future.

ABBY WILKEY
Birth Doula

Abby is a wife to an EMT (in Paramedic school) and a mom of two boys which she home schools. Her sons are her pride and joy. She birthed both of her babies at home (the second one with Carolyn) and is passionate about home birth. She absolutely loves being a doula and says the highlight of her job is watching parents fall in love with their new baby. Each birth is a love story and brings tears to her eyes.

Abby received her labor-doula training through CAPPA which is based in Buford, Georgia. She learned valuable information from her training but believes personal experience to be the best form of education. She strives to help moms (and dads) cope with labor, focus on progression, and achieve the birth they desire. Abby is great at nurturing both mom and dad throughout labor and delivery and being in-tune with their needs.
